Superfast pseudosushi!

topic posted Mon, April 7, 2008 - 4:18 PM by  matt

I usually don't have a lot of time for lunch and don't want to eat sammich everyday. (but sometimes i like...)

So i have created this.

I keep brown rice in the fridge at all times, just in case.

you need:

some nori
brown/white sticky rice
tamari
wasabi
carrots, cucs, whatever veggies you love
the random topping. Tuna, Salmon, Gardenburger, Sardines. you get the idea...

So i heat up the rice in a skillet. Today i made a hole in the center and cooked an egg halfway and then mixed in the white with the rice. i then quickly flipped the yolk and mixed it in still yellow.
While doing this i take the frozen Gardenburger and put it through the toaster 2x. this gets the outside all toasty and heats up the middle.

then i put it all on a plate, and make little nori rolls. each one is a little different and delicious.

i also had a glass of organic lowfat milk. mmm...

sometimes i use just a little mustard.
i won't be surprised if someone thinks this is gross.
but i love it.

I just discovered the gardenburger-toaster solution. Was trying to cut back on microwaves...my Farberware toaster has a defrost setting, 2 complete toasts and it's breakfast. ;-)

I used to go to a Sushi night back at home, it was usually around 15-30 people who would all gather at someone's house, and the idea was that everyone would bring some kind of fruit or veggie. We would all stand around the table cutting everything up till the rice was done then everyone would roll up nori roll type things with whatever random ingredients they would find from the table and after everything was roled and sliced and piled on the table we would all hold hands and say ohm and then! oh and then we would eat the BEST ever sushi with totally random insides, fruits, veggies, noodles....once octopus...... it was the best times ever and you would eat and like different creations that oyu would Never put together yourself!!
