Does n e one use mushrooms and what are their nutritional value ?
I love 'em but don't know if they are worth even eating . Some can be expensive . I take the portobello type and sauté them in butter and wine - yum .
Holy shit-také mushrooms ! These seem to be popular here In Hawai'i
We get straw mushrooms in a can as well as other button varieties from China
We used to see 'shrooms grown in racks in the limestone caves of upstate NY when my uncle - a geologist - and i would go spelunking
In Germany we'd have these stews made from them , really yummay
Don't pick and eat the ones with extra gills Hahhahah ! :)

for a wealth of info, check out Paul Stamets' "Mycelium Running" and anything written about fungi by David Aurora.

Mushrooms have many minerals as well as potassium, and have immune stimulating properties. I eat them fresh (or dried, but not ever canned) all the time....and whether or not I can chalk it up to them, I barely ever get sick or get a "cold"
I'm a big fan of shiitakes, foraged chanterelles (local and black), as well as a good ole bbq'd portobello sandwich.

Yep. I love a portobello "hamburger". Also really like stuffed mushrooms, and home-marinated mushrooms. I buy a variety of dried mushrooms in the Asian market. For me, most mushrooms have a wonderful earthy flavor and a "meaty" texture -- so I use them when I'm feeling in the "meatless" mood.

We'd get some major mushroom harvests in Bavaria because the guy i worked for ( Herr Baron - we ilved in a castle :) had a hunter on board ( a true Jågermeister - i kid you not ) and he'd collect them in the woods in the morning then bring them by . .also with Rei ( small deer ) he shot . Shrooms are the way to go √ ∞

I like shiitakes very much in dishes. I recently purchased some cream for around the eyes that contains shiitake mushrooms as an active ingredient, too. It is supposed to help with signs of aging in the skin, restoring skin to a more youthful condition. The packaging says it reduces fine lines around the eyes, age spots and under eye circles. I have read the shiitake's are good for the under eye circles, and that's what I want to keep an eye on to see if it works (no pun intended!).
