I am particularly lazy in the morning. I always have tea, but am often too lazy to cook. If I eat, it's generally a piece of fruit, or last night's leftovers, or a cup of Greek yogurt. What do you do to feed your body in the hour(s) between sleep and hitting the working world?

Yogurt is great.. but I dont often buy it..
My fav super fast brekkie is muesli - just pour on milk !
(And Happy New Year Grrr :)

My breakfasts are hot cereals -- cheese grits, or oatmeal with fruit, in particular. I have an electric tea pot, to bring the water to a boil, then pour the measured amount of water over the dry cereal, mix, cover, and nuke. The nuke time is vastly shortened, by starting with boiling water to begin with. The cereal is usually ready in 2-3 minutes. Sometimes I add 1/2 C mini shredded wheat, for more fiber. Grits and Malt-O-Meal do need to be stirred halfway through the cooking cycle.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm planning to try steel-cut oats in my rice cooker. It sure makes rice an easy, lazy thing.

I hadn't thought of that! I have cooked barley and whole wheat in my rice cooker, and they turned out fine. Let us know how it works!

I've always loved breakfast more than most other meals. I have an alternate work-around to a fast breakfast.
I eat mine at work.
I keep a box of Cheerios under my desk and a jug of milk in the public fridge. (but it's almond milk, so I never worry about anyone else drinking it) I wash my cereal bowl everyday, or I keep around the paper ones that can be tossed. I keep a spoon in my desk.
On weekends, I like to wake up and cook baby cakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. That's a weekend staple for us. Unless I'm in the mood for pancakes. -

Baby cakes – McCain's is the company/brand name.
It's like little hash-brown potato cakes. Bake them for about 5 minutes, flip, pull 'em out 5 minutes later. Voila!
I cook about 7 or 8 at a time, 4 for him and 3 or 4 for me. One bag lasts almost 2 months.
The hubby loves hash browns, and I've never been a big fan. But he always wants has browns with breakfast. I literally tried everything – from scratch, frozen, refrigerated, microwavable – everything. I cannot cook those things! One day I came across the Baby Cakes in the freezer and figured it'd be worth a try. Been a favorite for us both ever since.

Hmm. I don't particularly like cold cereal, but it's usually what I end up eating on weekdays. This time of year I eat instant oatmeal or other whole grain hot cereal. But - just thinking here - how about if on Sunday afternoon you made up a batch of scones or oatcakes and had them for the week?

A lazy breakfast I never tire of is a bagel topped with avocado. Not that I eat it every morning, but it's a good one when I do!

Maybe I posted this somewhere before... but here's my favorite way to start the day:
Half a bag if TJS frozen brown rice simmered for a couple of minutes w/ almond or coconut milk & nuts & dried fruit. Anything goes: sliced & toasted almonds, grated coconut, cashews, pecans, filberts etc... and raisins, dried sweetened cranberries, mulberries, cherries, or diced persimmons, nectarines, apricots, prunes or pears... I sometimes add some dried orange peel, a dash of cinnamon or a spoonful of pomegranate molasses.
Fast, wheat-free, dairy-free, almost sugar free & quite delicious . -

Yummy...like rice pudding for breakfast! I have a *huge* rice cooker, so this would be a great use for leftover rice, for me : ).
-
a bowel of warm oatmeal, fast and easy, if I have more time I'll make steel cut oat meal.
But thanks Lola, sounds like I have something new to try instead of oats and as mentioned right above a good way to use up left over rice.
