Hi All!
I just made a good blueberry smoothie. The recipe follows.
I am realizing....
hey! we're entering smoothie season! What kinds of smoothies are you
making these days?
Blueberry-Chocolate-Almond Smoothie
1/2 cup Bellweather Farms sheep milk yoghurt
small chunk of dark chocolate
8 plain almonds
1/2 cup milk boiled with a ginger
yogi tea tea bag, then cooled
sprinkle of vanilla
1 cup frozen blueberries

Re: Let's Share Smoothie Recipies!
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 8:35 AMI'm a sucker who usually *buys* smoothies – I live too far away to go home between work and class.
Anyway, made one not long ago:
About 1 measured scoop of Slim Fast French Vanilla mix
about 6 oz. 1% milk
one small Lite & Fit vanilla yogurt
1 1/2 kiwi fruit
1 banana
2 large strawberries
Actually made enough to share with 2 people, so cut the measurements in half for a single serving (hence the 1/2 kiwi).
Needed some kind of "meal replacement" in there, as this was the "dinner" before class, and it would be 3 hours before we were in a position to eat real food, which is why the Slim Fast is there.

Re: Let's Share Smoothie Recipies!
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 10:35 AMOur standard smoothie is:
1 cup frozen fruit
1-1 1/2 cup(s) ice
1 cup milk
2 tbs honey or agave nectar
Blend until smooth.
Yep, that's it. -

Re: Let's Share Smoothie Recipies!
Mon, April 14, 2008 - 6:39 PMMy aunt always tosses a handful of spinach in every smoothie. Sounds wierd, looks wierd, but doesn't change the taste at all. Great way to get some extra greens in the diet. -

Fri, April 18, 2008 - 1:31 PMHi!
my smoothies vary but always include
frozen fruit
little bit of ice
yogurt
juice or milk
ground flax seeds
almonds
dates
raw grated coconut
sometimes I add...
fresh banana or other fruit
steeped ginger
chai
hemp or whey protien
honey or agave
I never thought of adding chocolate to a smoothie, I love it! I love the tasty chocolate tofu desert I get at our coop, I think I'll plop some in our next smoothie, yummmmm

Re: Let's Share Smoothie Recipies!
Fri, April 18, 2008 - 1:42 PMI don't currently own a blender, but at home my mom would always put 1/2 a package of silk tofu in smoothies, it makes it very smooth and adds protein, she would also ALWAYS put just a pinch of salt in smoothies to bring out the flavor, it sounds weird but you should REALLY try it!

Re: Let's Share Smoothie Recipies!
Sun, April 20, 2008 - 12:48 PMyou guys always have great tips. :)
I love smoothies, but I hate cleaning the blender (the lazy part of the healthy). seems like so much work for something you drink in a few seconds. ;)
my quick and simple fav has been orange juice, 1 banana and some soy milk.
banana helps thicken them without using dairy. -

Mon, April 21, 2008 - 6:45 AMMagic Bullet!
Best device ever. Takes up so little room on the counter. You make your smoothie in the cup you'll drink it out of. And then you put it in the dishwasher! -
