My favorite, and very lazy, way to make it is to steam in the microwave. Put in a microwave safe dish, add lemon juice and butter and a sprinkle of salt. Cover (if your dish doesn't have a lid, use plastic wrap) and microwave until it's done the way you like it. Yum!

It is also good in soups and vegetable combinations and stir-frys. In a soup, make sure the broccoli goes in kind of late -- you don't want it to overcook too much, as with all things in the cabbage family.

Trim broccolli into small florets and slice stems (after removing any tough outer layer).

Heat olive oil in a large pan.

Throw stems in pan and DO NOT STIR. After a couple of minutes add florets and DO NOT STIR. Let broccoli sit until it gets slightly brown and caramely and then turn it over and cook the other side until it browns slightly. This should only take a couple of minutes per side.

Add a few TBS water that you've mixed with salt and pepper. Pour over broccoli and cover pan. Let broccoli steam until it turns bright green (a couple of minutes) Take off lid and cook until water is gone (umm.. 1 to 2 minutes.)

Great as is or add a squeeze of lemon before serving.

Not as simple as just eating the whole thing raw (also good), but this makes really flavorful broccoli.

Wow. Steaming works the best, at least for my tastes. I like it almost raw, but steamed enough that it turns a vibrant green. Try it with a squeeze of lemon juice or some seasoned salt.

You can also eat it raw - well washed. Good ruffage. I eat the stem as well, but alot of people don't like it. I love broccoli! Yum!

hi there. truly lazy here. I am wanting to find out how to prepare broccoli and well, how to eat it without adding cheese. Trying to learn new healthy habits and whatnot.

Does one have to boil, steam it or can one just wash it off and commencing eating? Do you eat just the stem? That's what I would do but I am also trying to maximize the health benefits.

thanks!
