Steam a head of calliflower until tender, not mushy!! (can use broccoli too).
Put in a baking dish and drizzel a mix of mayo and mustard (any flavor).
Sprinkle with shredded cheese (any flavor). I like jalepeno, but most make with chedder.
Bake at 350' for 15 mins or until cheese has melted into crunchy bits on the bottom.
Eat like orgasmic candy of the culinary Gods!
Blessed Be!

Re: I know it sounds crazy but~~~
Fri, February 24, 2006 - 8:07 PMsounds very interesting!
I look at cauliflower like tofu.
Love the way it feels in my mouth
but the flavor has to come from other
ingredients.
I think you've stumbled onto something!
What are you gonna call it?! -

Re: I know it sounds crazy but~~~
Sat, February 25, 2006 - 7:20 PMhere's what I did...
I got a whole cauliflower, cut it into pieces and steamed it.
meahwhile, I got about two cups of yogurt,
a handful of cilantro,
about a quarter cup of store-bought dried tomato/pepper/vinegar/olive/olive oil mixture, forget what it's called.
toasted cumin,
curry powder,
salt and pepper,
a little very little honey flakes,
mixed it up.
and poured it over the cauliflower and
nuked it.
not as good as what you described, but not bad.

I like cutting up cauliflower, onions, cabbage, etc and covering it in tandoori and throwing it in the oven in a baking dish for an hour or so. Mmm mm good.. -

Sat, February 25, 2006 - 5:36 PMno, I remember my mom making something smilar when I was a kid, baking a whole cauliflower with a cheese crust of some sort and it was delicious....I've never tried making it myself, though..the cheese can't be too bad if it's a small amount

Re: I know it sounds crazy but~~~
Sat, February 25, 2006 - 8:38 PMThere is a similar old french recipe (I grew up in france)...my mother used to make it a lot but instead of mayo she used sour cream and shreded parmesan or emmental....this is like the only dish where i will accept califlower...i don't like califlower at all but either like this or raw and that will be the only way that i can eat it :)
thanks for the reminder, i didn't eat that in ages! :)

Thu, March 16, 2006 - 8:03 AMI've eaten a head of cauliflower steamed and then rolled in bread crumbs and butter (I think - I didn't make it) and baked till crispy. I couldn't believe how good it was and still wish I'd gotten the recipe.

Re: I know it sounds crazy but~~~
Thu, March 16, 2006 - 8:45 AMI've made a yummy (but not healthy) cassarole of chopped cauliflower, cream cheese, green onions and bacon. It tasted like potatoes au gratin (saw it on an atkins website when I, very briefly, tried that out). -
